New Tiered restrictions in England from Wednesday 2 December
26 November 2020
Following the Government’s announcement today of which areas of England will be in which tier, SOLT/UK Theatre have issued the following statement to the press and on social media:
‘Today’s Government announcement is a relief for theatres in Tier 1 and 2 areas, including London’s West End, but equally devastating for Tier 3 theatres yet again forced to postpone or cancel shows – including Pantos, usually an annual highlight for families and a vital source of income for theatres around the country. This risks the survival of many venues and leaves thousands of theatre professionals struggling over the Christmas period, particularly freelancers who cannot rely on government support.’
The local restriction tier system will be in place from Wednesday 2 December and you can find out what you can and cannot do in each tier and also find out which area you fall into from the government website.
The government has also published a series of posters displaying information about the various tiers of restrictions in England.
We await the draft legal regulations for clarity on a number of issues and will update members on Monday.
