The Tyne Theatre & Opera House is delighted to announce a 3-day conference as part of its National Lottery Heritage Fund project entitled The Drury Lane of the North to examine the inter-relationships between the stage, the orchestra pit, the performer and the audience during the Victorian & Edwardian periods. It will take place at the beautiful Grade I listed Tyne Theatre & Opera House which has a historically significant installation of original Victorian stage machinery.

Between now and September 2023 the theatre will be undertaking further research and restoration works on the machinery and it is anticipated that practical demonstrations will be given during the conference.

Proposals should include a paper title, an abstract of no more than 350 words and a short biography and should be sent to conference@tynetheatreandoperahouse.uk
