The In-service Inspection for Lifting Gear course is a two day course which forms part of the Silver Award for Stage Technicians. This can be taken as a stand alone two day course or as part of the five day Silver Stage Award.
What does the course cover?
This is a two part course. Part 1 of the course brings stage technicians up to date with regulations such as the Machinery Directive / Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER). It is designed to equip the stage technician with a good understanding of their responsibilities and the knowledge about how to perform their tasks efficiently and safely.
Part 2 of the course builds on Part 1 (above) and introduces the practical element of inspecting and using lifting gear. Candidates must have completed Part 1 before undertaking Part 2.

This course forms part of the ABTT Silver Award for Theatre Stage Technicians.
