Job Description

We are looking for a Lifting Operations Supervisor (Grade 2A) to join the National Theatre Rigging Team.

Based within the Stage department, this role works to support lifting operations across the organisation, working across all three performance venues and other NT spaces.  You will take an active role in the planning and management of show-related lifting operations in consultation with the venue rigging teams, production managers, the drawing office and the workshops teams, ensuring that operations are conducted safely and efficiently from concept, through design and build, and to on-stage realisation.

You’ll maintain oversight of performer flying effects, whether undertaken internally or with external support and will also coordinate the installation and commissioning of additional production-specific lifting equipment.  You will also support the development and implementation of best practice in work at height, and support training delivery.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Technical operational experience in entertainment or theatre rigging, or the wider rigging or lifting equipment industry.
  • A thorough knowledge of current health and safety legislation including the HSWA and LOLER.
  • Training and/or experience in the installation of lifting equipment and performer flying effects.
  • Training and experience in working at height.
  • Excellent project management skills.
