Equals is an independent consultancy formed by highly experienced construction industry professionals. Our services include project management and cost management. Our team have worked with some of the most prestigious cultural and performing arts institutions in the UK on masterplan, extension, refurbishment and new build projects. Our work ranges from the largest and most high profile projects in this area such as the Royal Opera House Open Up project to schemes of a more modest size such as the refurbishment of the theatre and recital halls for the Royal Academy of Music. We have also worked on several state of the art performance venues within some of the UK’s leading independent schools.

Royal Opera House, Open Up project
Project management on the Open Up project. The scheme will make circulation and wayfinding in the building more easy and intuitive, so that visitors can clearly see what is available in all parts of the building and how to get there. The project will open up the physical entrances and street level public spaces, with the main foyer being enlarged and expanded at ground level to create a focus to front of house spaces, along with the refurbishment of the Linbury Studio Theatre. Designed by Stanton Williams.
Royal Academy of Music, new theatre and recital hall
Cost management the refurbishment and new build works to the theatre within the Royal Academy of Music. Attached to a Grade II listed building, the new theatre will increase audience capacity by 40% and will deliver state-of-the-art stage and recording facilities. The scheme also includes a new 100 seat roof-top recital hall and improvements to back and front of house facilities. Designed by Ian Ritchie Architects.
Portsmouth Guildhall, Renaissance Project
Project management on the Guildhall Renaissance project. The scheme involves the refurbishment of the main auditorium and backstage facilities, and the upgrade of other public spaces including the main entrance, café and bar facilities. Designed by Foster Wilson Architects.
Blackheath Halls auditorium for the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music
Cost management and Employer’s Agent on the refurbishment of the performing arts theatre within a Grade II listed building, part of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music. Designed by Woods Bagot.
New Music Centre, King’s College School Wimbledon
Project and Cost management on a new music centre for an independent day school. The new centre will have a recital room, rehearsal room, control room and 16 practice rooms along with associated offices and facilities for staff and pupils. Designed by Hopkins Architects.

Cost management on a new music school for an independent school. The music school features a 300-seat auditorium along with rehearsal, practice and teaching spaces, including specialist acoustic treatments where required. Designed by Hopkins Architects.
