He became a sound engineer at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club, in the West End and on tour, before moving onto the National Theatre’s Sound Department where he stayed for several years. Whilst there, he worked on a wide range of productions in all the venues including various temporary spaces and outdoor festivals and events.He was the Sound Designer on the premier of ‘The Seafarer’ by Conor McPherson, which transferred to Broadway. He joined Theatreplan as a Theatre Consultant in 2007 bringing his extensive practical experience in both sound and stage management systems and became an Executive Director of the company in 2018.
At Theatreplan, Mathew is a highly experienced project leader and specialist consultant in charge of the design and implementation of sound, audio-visual, and video and communications systems. He is currently overseeing the delivery of prestigious Theatreplan projects in the UK. Mathew also advises on spatial/theatre planning and access, working to develop design solutions for auditoria and related ancillary spaces
