New legislation and technology are setting new standards for escape lighting, often international, directed at many types of public building and workplace. While these are probably excellent improvements in the locations for which they are primarily intended, it is important that the special needs of theatres and of similar places of assembly are properly recognised. The ABTT has studied the problem and participated in specialist committee discussions and now recommends the following approach laid out in this book.
